Aluminum bronze is a form of bronze in which aluminum is the main alloying metal which is added to copper. We can find a variety of aluminum bronzes made up of different compositions ranging from 5 %  to 11 % aluminum by mass, the remaining weight being copper and other alloying agents such as iron, nickel, manganese, and silicon. Aluminum bronzes are known for their higher resistance to corrosion and strength as compared to other bronze alloys. These alloys are resistant to tarnish and corrosion rates are low even in atmospheric conditions, they show low oxidation rates at high temperatures. They are also corrosion resistant in sea water.

Another noteworthy property of aluminum bronzes is their biostatic effects. The copper content of the alloy prevents clusterization by marine organisms including algae, lichens, and mussels, and so is often preferred as compared to stainless steel or other non-cupric alloys.Aluminum bronzes are in high demand in industries and areas where specialized corrosion resistance is required, general sea water-related services, oil and petrochemical industries i.e. tools used in spark resistant environments, water supply services.
